Mocha Frappuccino Popsicle

Mocha Frappuccino Popsicle
OMG!  Do you miss those sugary, carb laden frappuccinos?  If you do, then I promise that these are a wonderful 3pm snack replacement.  I haven't had a frapp in over a year so I can't swear that they taste exactly the same but they sure are close enough to fool my memory.  I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed, so much that I made more the day after I finished off the original batch.  I rarely make the same thing twice so it says a lot that not only did I make them twice, but as back to back desserts.  They are yummy!

5 STARS
4 servings
2.5 net carbs per serving

1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 TBSP unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp instant coffee granules
2 TBSP granular Splenda

Blend on medium until fully mixed together, scraping down the sides as needed.  Pour into 4 popsicle molds (popsicle mold sizes vary but this amount was perfect for mine).  Freeze for at least 3 hours.

  3. very good!!! I had the old Tupperware popsicle molds, and they make 6... Think I'm going to head to the dollar store to get the one's that come in 4 so I can have a BIGGER popsicle! lol... I put a small amount in a little cup (since I only had 5 of the 6 molds) Then I attacked it before it froze becuase I couldn't wait, and it was in the slushy/ half frozen stage... that was almost EXACTLY like a Mocha Frapp... ok, now I want one. Think it's too early for a popsicle?? :-)

  5. just wanted to update: I did make the popsicles in the larger molds (the one's that make 4, like you have) and they are MUCH better! Just creamier, and all over more yummy. Plus you get more popsicle.. can't go wrong there. Not sure why in the smaller molds, they are more icy and not quite as creamy.. so go with the larger molds!

    1. Thanks for the update! If I wind up getting more molds (which is a possibility because my son keeps complaining that I'm hogging the molds) then I will remember to get more of the big ones!

  6. Ok, I can't STAND eating Popsicles, because of the noise when I bite into something icey, so I just mixed this up, and ate it like a mousse! LOL! It's been great I've done it twice, now. This last time, I ate it as a dollop topping over a serving of macadamia nuts. Great salty/sweet combo! Next week, I'm going to try to blend it with low sugar peanut butter, instead of coffee, and see how that is!

    Thanks for the recipes!

    2. I whipped these up about a hour ago for tomorrow's snack and i forgot to add the instant coffee although i did taste it before pouring it in the molds and it tasted like melted chocolate ice cream yummo, I cant wait to taste the finished product and also make the original recipe with the coffee i bet that will taste great as well. What do you think about adding some banana flavoring to the mix minus the coffee of course? Would love to here what you think about that, and how much extract would you recommend?

    3. Hi Chaunta!

I think you'd love my Chunky Monkey Shake! I used 1 tsp of banana extract in that recipe and thought it was perfect. I'd probably start there with this one and then taste the "batter" to see if more is needed. http://lowcarblayla.blogspot.com/2012/05/chunky-monkey-shake-banana-chocolate.html

  9. Do you think it would work with Almond milk as a sub for the heavy cream? It's pretty thick.

  10. How can I substitute the heavy whipped cream? I really don't know where I can get it here in México :( please give me a sub!!!

  11. Can you share where you purchased the blue holder? This looks like it would make eating these less messy.
